What A Shame... "There was a popular misconception that Muxtape only survived because it was "flying under the radar," and the moment the major labels found out about it it'd be shut down. In actuality, the labels and the RIAA read web sites like everyone else, and I... more

From the page: "Muxtape is a platform for bands (to do things like feature an HD music video)."

Looks like they are up and running again after being screwed by the RIAA...I like them better this way anyway. Screw the major labels, let them drown in their own excesses like the banking industry.

I don't usually read wall of text like this, but I took some time and greatly appreciate the spirit of music freedom of the owner, eventhough i haven't tried the service previously.

New Review: This was once a cool site to quickly upload music that I ALREADY LEGALLY OWNED and make playlists to access online from anywhere (work, home, friend's houses). The beauty of it was how simple it was. No ads all over the site, a clean format. You could only fit so many songs per list...it really was like a digital version of the mix tape (and legal action was never taken against those...interesting...). But the stupid RIAA and big labels had to ruin it. They are their own worst enemy and are shooting themselves in the foot. It's free promotion, you morons! Only the person who uploaded the music has the actual file, everyone else streams it. I don't like the idea of muxtape being for bands... I liked how individual music fans made the playlists based on what they truly like, with no ulterior motive to promote it commercially & gain a buck. So goodbye muxtape....it was nice while it lasted. Old review (7 months ago) Fast and easy way to make mixed "tape" playlists. Site is super clean & well designed.

They just don't get it! Some of the best marketing efforts are those of a fan who loves the music so much they think all thier friends need to hear it. How many times has a friend told you "wait, I need you to listen to this song and tell me what you think about it" while anxiously awaiting your expression or your body language, as you hear what they believe to be a brilliant phrase in a song. Yeah, RIAA that's something that must be stopped. Clearly it's wrong for fans to promote music without getting paid. Where would music be without radio? Where would music be without TV? Where would music be today without the internet? Where will music be without fans?
