If popularity is any indicator of what constitutes a 'successful' writer then Stephen King must know a thing or two. Sure he's been doing it by the numbers for a while now but when he was hot, he was hot. Back in the day, he supposedly single-handedly re-defined the moribund horror genre and created a style that many since have copied. This is an entertaining and useful article worth ten minutes of any aspiring writers time.
