Glad I took Chinese. Although you still can't avoid random people shouting "Hello!" in China either. And I was sort of swarmed by people in Tiananmen Square asking to take pictures with me.

I've been to Japan, and from what I experienced, number 7 is very wrong. Our group was taught about customs, modesty, etc, before we left, but it was very outdated. Basically, when you go there, follow your common sense and just be respectful, but you certainly don't need to act like a prude.

There are several onsen near where I live. I haven't had the juevos to use one yet.

Having lived there for ten years, these are all second nature to me. Some I have continued for I see them as just good manners no matter where you are.
