I figured that this won't be found in a million years so I'm reviewing my own creation. This is a Google Maps mash up showing the important places and routes on Kkai's (and incidentally Saich's) trip to China in 804-806. If you click on the lines you can see how far each one stretches and get an idea of how far he travelled. I've gone over and over the historical sources (in English) and refined this to be as accurate as it can be, though some of it is guess work based on things like the existence of Government roads at the time that they probably followed.
