From the page: "Reframing self-limiting situations as questions has long been celebrated as an excellent way to instantly changing the way we feel. Suppose you're feeling down but, even so, you dare to ask yourself - What am I excited about?. At first, you'll get irritated by the question. However, if you put honest effort in answering it, you will indeed find something worth feeling better about. And that's not denial: it's just shifting your focus."

What? You mean ... this early in the morning? Let me think about this. Well, if you aske me the right questions, I can probably give you an answer. Most I find to be personal and not fact. But, that is alright because there is much to be said about persona opinions. We should consider all opinions and sift the wheat from the chaff.

oh geeze; another 10 item list ... Claude Lévi-Strauss: The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he's one who asks the right questions. ~ Le Cru et le cuit, 1964 J. W. Tukey : "Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague, than an exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise." (1962, page 13), "The future of data analysis". Annals of Mathematical Statistics 33(1), pp. 1-67. [Tukey of the Cooley-Tukey Fast Fourier Transform fame ... -j] David Gross, the 2004 Nobel Laureate in Physics: "One of the most creative qualities a research scientist can have is the ability to ask the right questions." Ursula K. Le Guin: "There are no right answers to wrong questions." (Planet of Exile) Jacob Bronowski, 1908 - 1974: That is the essence of science: ask an impertinent question, and you are on the way to the pertinent answer. Ralph Waldo Emerson: "When we have arrived at the question, the answer is already near" (Journal, April 1852) Lloyd Alexander: "We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself." Tallulah Bankhead: " I'd rather be strongly wrong than weakly right" My own experience is that the only interesting answers are the ones that raise more questions ... but I'm hardly the first to observe that -j

Haven't posted anything in awhile. Not sure why but this little list about the types of questions and the power of them is not a bad list; it is something I can build on in teaching. Worth a quick look.
