    The smallest objects that the unaided human eye can see are about 0.1 mm long. That means that under the right conditions, you might be able to see an ameoba proteus, a human egg, and a paramecium without using magnification. A magnifying glass can help you to see them more clearly, but they will still look tiny.

    So I have seen this type of sliding scale used for the astronomically large, but I am glad someone went the other way and used it to show the infinitesimally small! Even as a molecular biologist, I was surprised at a few of the relative sizes of cells according to this tool! Check it out if you are so inclined!

    A great way to give you a sense of scale. Makes me want one which goes up from there to illustrate how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Works fine for me on Firefox (Win 7 64 Bit)
