Although the article is aimed specifically at creative people, I would suggest that the insight extends further than this. The author identifies and discusses his top ten social networks; these being both mainstream networks, such as Facebook and MySpace, to smaller niche networks aimed more directly at the creative industries. An interesting read for those looking to become involved with a social network. Comments from network users are also provided.

The real gems are in the second half of the post, but Mark also gives one of the best descriptions of why Twitter is so cool that I've seen.

The article + reader comments below by Stacy Lukas on what Twitter has evolved to are particularly interesting. Now more What has your attention? or Whats on your mind? Vs. What are you doing Good article to read before you jump in to any Social Network Site and unknowingly violate that Site's established Culture rules.
