Laodan, artist and intellectual, presents many topical ideas in a deep manner. I really like the articles by Mishra and Cunningham on Tibet's dilemma - very engaging thoughts. He is also interested in brain function, as I am, but our difference may be that I think much of the current brain research is off-target and is trying to find "the musicians inside a radio" or "the actors in a TV." Nonetheless, Laodan is looking long and deep at many important issues and I recommend that you spend long spans of time at his site (sight).

StumbleUpon's "Most Purposeful Stumbler" From the page: "In the end what I mean to say is that beauty is something objective and what we call ugliness is then simply our unconscientious feel of something evolution did not retain. "

A great blog with interesting articles on economic, culture and society to name a few..From his page: "THE WAY THINGS ARE: The meaning of life is to be found in thinking about what is reality and the beauty of reality is to be found in our DNA's memorization of all forms that have been successfully retained along the four billion years of evolution of the principle of life on Gaia our earth. In the end what I mean to say is that beauty is something objective and what we call ugliness is then simply our unconscientious feel of something evolution did not retain."

Laodan's blog is very intelligent but also accessible, with fascinating insights into culture and society. One post on his latest page compares nations to adolescents or adults, understanding changes in the political cycle in terms of Taoism: "Robert Reich gives us a masterly description of the adolescent narrative about nations. It is a non-dualist approach that fits the canon of modern theories of change in dynamic environments as well as the logic of the Tao. - "The Triumphant Individual" is the young active polarity (young yang) that ages into "the Benevolent Community" which is the old active polarity (old yang). - The old active polarity then degenerates into "The Mob at the Gates" which is the young passive polarity (young yin) that in turn transforms into the old passive polarity "The Rot at the Top". - The old passive polarity then degenerates into a new young active polarity, thus, engaging a new cycle of change. The mass movement for change behind Obama illustrates the emergence of a new young active polarity possibly signaling the start of a new cycle in American societal life."
