I found this art innovative, stunning and want to know who is the artist. I love the idea of using colored pencil as the medium for sculpture. I want one! Now for more serious discussion - there was no attribution to the artist and that stinks!!! Her name is jennifer maestre . Go see the original and not a ripped off set of unattributed images.

Does any other Stargate fan notice that this looks alot like one of those dimensional bugs from Sight Unseen, or is it just me?

These are "pencil art". Its quite cool structurally but all the organic shapes are a bit weird. Its all a bit too yonic and phallic for me. I mean c'mon, this one looks like a spiky threatening cavernous vagina, filled with the black shadows of death. I mean everyone sees that right, its not just me? And this one! Look gaping vagina on a stalk, filled with the blackness of death! right? And this one, well, that's just a penis with a gaping vagina on the end! What is this, gender subversion? or sex as death? or genitalia being stripped of their frivolous sensuality and reduced to emblems of function, displaying them as teleological objects like the pencils they're made from? or is it not about genitalia? Maybe it is just weird shapes made with different coloured pencils. But isn't it weird how in the first two which i shall dub "Meditations on Vagina 1 & 2", this person has used normal pencils. So the colours are a dark creamy colour from the wood of the pencil which suggests flesh tones, a womans skin, then black from the nibs which is threatening and ominous especially because its on the tip of the sharpened point and then cascades of reddish orange, an earthy natural tone, suggesting mother nature, blood, life, (perhaps even menstruation). But the symbolism of the red and the flesh toned creamy colour just lend themselves to the vaginal image quite coincidentally. Plus, the spikes awaiting anything that enters the vagina are pretty grim. Oh, and then the last picture, "Meditations on vagina tipped penis(erect)": theres no red, so no feminine connotations of life giving or sensuality or menstruation. But instead green, which could be neutral, or could be representing the fertility of fauna which fits with the potency of the erect phallic shape. But then again perhaps it's green as envy...green with penis envy? Or again, it could just be pencils...

These are the ends of pencils - can you tell?

Warning: several thousand pencils were decapitated in the making of this art.
