Dear lord! The reports of this being widely spread in the United States is a hoax. However, I still find it quite disconcerting that - as far as I can tell - this "drug" is actually quite real. Ugh! It says a bit about how terrible life must be for some in third world countries that they would resort to this.
I've read about this before and as best I can tell, it's not a joke. The reason it works is very simple: the gas produced by the urine and feces is methane. Methane is the reason that people who work in septic tanks and the like can black out and die if they're not removed (asphyxiation). If you're tempted to try the stuff, know this: once you wake up, it takes days to get the taste out of your mouth.
