yarikoptic discovered 29 months ago- "The HPC Challenge was sponsored by The National Science Foundation, DARPA and the Department of Energy all of whom have an interest in balanced HPC solutions that achieve much higher real performance on their codes at a much higher percentage of theoretical Lin Pack performance. Take a look at a cross section of codes that are representive of potential real performance."
