- From the page: "I am under constant siege by people in cars. When I go for a bike ride I am typically alone. I try to go out when the traffic is at a minimum. I stay as far to the right on the road as I can without inflicting another kind of danger to my health. I am simply a man on his bike. Unfortunately I am not safe." Very well written. It always breaks down to the 'ME vs. WE' mindset-- even amongst cyclists.

- I am a cyclist. I get on my bike and go for a pedal as time allows. I do it because it is what I do for exercise and recreation. I like the freedom. I like the rythym. I love everything about it, except one thing: People driving cars.

Statements like this run counter to an open and positive discussion about the use of human powered vehicles on our roads. The reason people in car get aggravated at people on bikes (and motorcycles, and Semis, and etc) is that people expect others to be just like themselves. When those expectations aren't met they get angry and feel the need to prove that they are "better".
Next time you're on the road watch some expensive sports car pass a huge expensive SUV. The sports car driver expects the SUV to be faster. The SUV isn't so he gets angry and passes him. The SUV doesn't expect to get passed that fast. He gets angry and maybe does something dumb. Both thought their mode of transportation was superior when they bought it, so they place ego before safety. - "So what is it about a guy, or gal, on their bike that causes so much aggravation to people who drive cars?
