500+ retired servicemen with semi automatic binoculars and autoloading laser guided cellphones are considered vigilantes. The gang presumably is not. Remember, the uprising of the Hispanics (which by the way practically no legal Hispanic immigrant supports) was engineered by the Hispanic media with the leadership of a neo-con advertising outfit, Robert Allyn. Hey, if Congress isn't going to adequately fund the poorly understaffed Border Patrol, then I'm all for law-abiding civilian volunteers helping. I'm even more at ease knowing that many of these volunteers are legally armed civilians -- many with combat training. If an outlaw gang wants to stick its hands in the hornet's nest, I expect that law enforcement will work with the civilians to lay some serious smack down. Just my two cents...
