This is a wonderfully articulate deconstruction of a pseudoscientific, holier-than-thou e-mail that purports to prove the existance of God. Stupid Evil Bastard provides a necessary service in the fight to rid the word of people who make idiot comments like this: "I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, God gave us the ability to choose for ourselves. He will not force you to believe what He says or not. I don't think there is any reason to attack you or the original poster. You are both expressing your opinions on what you believe is true. I do agree with one of you, But regardless of that, I am not going to put down your thoughts or his, But i also don't think either of you should say bad things about each other, Because (like i said in the beginning) You are both entitled to your own opinion" Gaaaak! What a load of crap! This comment and the thinking that gives rise to it exemplifies a particularly specious form of fallacious logic which I have named Sententia Inconditus ut Res (opinion confused as fact). It is true that we are welcome to our own opinions however we are not welcome to our own facts. It is important to understand the difference between an opinion based on actual facts and an opinion based on rhetorical sleight of hand and appeal to emotion. It's a long but very worthwhile read. Check out what he has to say.

A few week ago ago I stumbled this and wrote a few paragraph to refute the argument in the story; I want to correct my review. I had overlooked part below the story with it's own well though out rebuttal as I though it was the start of the comments.

At the beginning of the story i first thought some idiot atheist wrote it but then i realized it's just some stupid God logic. That professor is a moron if he can't combat to what the student is saying.

A pleasurable read, a great discussion, an interesting exchange in the comments, a fascinating examination and analysis nothing to lose and everything to gain. Time well spent. Ok, why not?

From the page: "The existence of brains is so well established, in fact, that most Christians wouldnâ€t be stupid enough to question that reality in the first place."

I only hope everyone who stumbles to this page reads the entire thing, and realizes it is a rebuttal to the terribly flawed logic presented in the beginning story. I do believe in giving everyone the right to have "faith" in whatever imaginary friend they want to have, but my right to look down on you as a fool will never be taken away.
