This is a good point. I think like and environment is constantly changing. We are either growing or dieing. We need to tune into that fact and grow with it. Nothing remains the same, nor should it.

This is a good point. Many environmental activists do seem to want to rescue the earth, but life - in some form - is likely to persist past anything we manage to do (unless we manage to boil off the seas entirely). The problem is that life is moderately comfortable for many humans (we should be making a concerted effort to improve it for all the rest as well), but if we keep messing with things it is likely to get much less comfortable. How many people think the southern tip of Florida is kindofa nice place? I do, and I'd rather keep it above water, along with New York City, and hugely populated areas in China and India. Additionally, I like to eat fish, I like to breathe clean air, I like to swim in something other than a pool in someone's back yard; these things are becoming more dangerous the more crap we put into the atmosphere and land and water.

This has been my point all along, ever since we "discovered" the environmental movement 25, 30 years ago. The earth is just fine. If we keep screwing up, rats, cockroaches, hardy seeds, they're going to survive us, along with many, many other species. So when we talk about "environmentalism", it's really mostly about saving homo sapiens from extinction.
