If you really want an upgrade just ask for one. If they do not give you one then stop going to those hotels. Some timeshare salesmen actually say in their sales presentations that if you join their program that you will automatically get free upgrades. This is just a fraudulent claim that should be stopped by the FTC. Sometimes you get free upgrades and other times you do not. It depends on what the hotel is expecting as far as the number of guests in relation to how many rooms they have available. Do not bribe people to do their job, that is one way to really insult them.
