ragingtexan rated 18 months ago- Sorry, stevedtrm, but these more than likely aren't the guys and gals raping and killing Iraqis. While there's plenty of stupidity, ethnocentricity, and straight-up racism that contributes to the war in Iraq, it doesn't mean that all the soldiers are indulging in that same moronic shit. And if you're willing to put such a blanket statement onto U.S. troops, fuck you to the deepest pits of hell. And that goes for military in general. I am as liberal as they come, but as a human being who almost joined the military before the Iraq occupation began, I also have friends who are stuck there, who completely disagree with what's happening, and who have done their best to get out of the shit while MANAGING TO AVOID KILLING PEOPLE. Your dumbass, short-sighted hatred of America does absolutely nothing for the anti-war movement(regardless of which country you're from), and thanks a lot for undermining the general ideology of the worldwide anti-war movement. A lot of these guys are just normal people who decided to join the military. They're not angry stormtroopers bent on raping and murdering people left and right. They're not hired mercenaries from Blackwater. And what's even worse about your statements is that you're lending credence to the warmongering American Christian ideologues that you so openly decry (as do I, mind you) These right-wing fucks think that any anti-war citizen abhors the troops and wants them to die, and yet you go on to say stupid shit and lend credibility to their statements. Way to go.Otherwise, welcome home, guys and gals. You've earned it, and let's hope that these corrupt pieces of shit in power don't send you back anytime soon.
stevedtrm rated 18 months ago- Welcome home a mass murderer. Yayy!
Reponse to raging Texan below.
These guys deserve to be spat on like they were when they came home from Vietnam. You are supporting mass murdering terrorists, and all the fluffy flag waving 5 year olds in the world can't hide it. The world sees. The USA is a nation of young ignorant men whod rather kill an Iraqui family than go without a widescreen TV. Nuremburg. Aggression. Supreme Criminals.
Raging texan :-
Theyre taking money to support the psychos, passing them bullets and guns. Some of them definitely ARE MASS MURDERERS, and the rest are ACCOMPLICES. Normal people who join the military and participate in ILLEGAL wars are FIRSTLY traitors to their oath, unlike for example, LT. WATADA WHO ISNT, BUT SECONDLY THEYRE PROVIDING MATERIAL SUPPORT TO TERRORISM. The US government is behind the death squads killing most Iraquis, and most US soldiers are PROTECTING the death squads in the green zone and wider Baghdad, to crush their popular hope of overthrowing the puppet terrorist regime the US installed. All actively participating US/UK soldiers/sailors/airmen are terrorist supporters if they aren't mass murderers, but when u welcome that many soldiers home, you are almost certainly welcoming home a mass murderer.
Tell ure dumb ass freinds to stop their support for terrorism, not firing the bullet is NOT good enough. Follow Watada's example. He's the only intelligent or principled officer I am aware of in the US forces.
lprince87 rated 18 months ago- This is so important. I think it was so demoralizing for our Vets coming home from 'Nam and Korea not to recieve support from the people they were fighting for. Iraq and Vietnam wars, both terribly mis-managed by our government, are blights on our nation's history and by supporting our troops we are working to fix that blight a little bit.
john77075 rated 18 months ago- What a guy, Welcome to Texas mi amigo
seafox7 rated 18 months ago- Damnit. This is important.
My dad didn't get this. Maybe in some ways we are growing as a nation.
clcallies rated 20 months ago- If you did not see the "Welcome Home" story on ABC when it aired. You can see it here.
NitroDev rated 20 months ago- When my brother came home from Iraq, I was there to meet him, along with the other soldiers in his Company. It was of course rather emotional, but there was one person there that it really hit home with. He was also a Gulf War vet, and for Joe to see so many more of his fellow soldiers returning home brought back all the feelings he felt when he first stepped off that bus.
I had talked with Joe when he first came home. He didn't have much to say about what happened during his time in Iraq, but the display of emotions at my brother's homecoming was quite telling. I have known many people that have been to war, but none of them have ever openly spoke about how they felt while they were in combat, at least not to me.
