  • Steam Extraction of Essential Oils

From the page: "Considering the cost of some essential oils exceeds $400 per oz. (30 ml) and most essential oils cost about $100 per oz. I thought it would be an interesting project to experiment with home made extraction. "

Purity of essential oils is important. I shudder to think what industrial drums contained and how they would effect the end product. I distribute Young Living Essential Oils and only a very, very, few like Rose are as expensive. And given that such a small amount is needed since the oils are so concentrated, they aren't that expensive. Oils can be used and have been used for centuries, since Biblical times, to treat ailments and proactively to enhance functioning.

great idea. i would rather find a container that i knew it's previous use to be the tank. ideally stainless steel that had been used for food product only or better yet, water. or run many many plain runs of water through it first. great idea, again. i am gonna be watching out for a suitable tank.

This is very cool. I know that my Mom buys a lot of this stuff, but I am sure that we could build this for her and save her a bundle....maybe even make some money at it at teh church craft sale
