With this site you can learn how to use linux all over your house! X10 home automation allows you to control lights, AC Control, and even your garage door all on a tight budget. There are guides for basic setup and even tying AsteriskPBX to X10 that allows you to route your calls based on bluetooth proximity. Very cool!
