Very nice and quick way to calculate how small lifestyle changes affect CO2 production. With only 5 small steps, one can reduce CO2 output by 31%. Add another couple of steps and you can have a 50% reduction. Do take the pledge.

The big culprit behind global warming is CO2. The less we create, the better for the planet. We can all help by taking a few simple steps, like these... 1. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs. 2. Adjust your thermostat by 2 degrees. 3. Carpool to work once a week.

While I'm a huge fan of energy efficient lightbulbs (I've switched all of mine now), it realy is almost too simple of a solution to be meaningful. Changing a lightbulb is like the new recycling- a quick-fix solution to alleviate the guilt we feel about all of the environmentally damaging things we do every day. Drive a Hummer? That's okay, I use CFLs! The real problem that we need to change is our consumer-based culture.
