    You know what...the true cause of poverty is the people just don't care! You can talk about politics and economics all you want. The fact is that those who have the wherewithall to help the situation don't care enough to make the effort. Don't talk around the problem here. Tell it like it is. Give the facts about poverty, but don't make it so high level that people think it has nothing to do with them. Make everyone understand...poverty is *your* responsibility.
