we have entered the era of mass personalization; everyone wants to express their individuality in many aspects of their lives; we really see this trend with the myspace generation; they personalize everything from their style of dress (think t-shirts from cafepress, threadless, etc.) to their cars to their myspace pages;
gigya allows this generation to even customize their email; the company allows users to enter a few snippits of html code and have custom email; one can use a custom template, choose from the many offered by gigya or simply use their existing myspace layout; as mashable points out, it wil be interesting to see if the myspace generation that mainly communicates via im (synchronous) and member messaging in social networks (asynchronous) will warm up to email
