Amylink's argument is flawed. First off, the cost of these two things are completely different. Windshield repair-replacement costs about 10 times as much as a new CD. Losing a windshield does not effectively stop your car from working. Scratching a CD so that 5 or 6 songs don't play effectively renders half your CD useless and warrants a new one. If half the crap in your car didn't work, you'd want a new one. Digital media can be copied and distributed infinitely at no cost. A windshield must be produced from physical materials and then shipped and installed, all of which costs money.
