From the page: "In January, Scientific American writers unleashed an ambitious plan to halt global warming, eliminate our dependence on petroleum and the substantial trade deficit, boost the economy and create 3 million jobs, and brighten the dismal forecasts for the mid twenty-first century."

Let's-go so-lar, clap-clap clap clap clap! From the page: "Development of such a system could provide almost three-quarters of the nation's electricity by 2050."

30,000 square miles of solar panels. You people are idiots. You think you're saving the environment? Mining for oil in alaska would be less damaging the the environment than blanketing a huge area with solar panels. Nothing could grow there we would have to kill everything that lived there to build it. It would be like we dropped a nuke on the southwest that spread solar power instead of radiation. Think god damn it.

Solar power could be a big deal for the future of electricity generation and producing transportation fuel.
