As a student of all things zombie, I stumbled this article suggesting that oil rigs are the safest possible place in the event, however unlikely. Yeah, it sounds great but think about this for a second. Supposing you even survive the trek down the interstate, which will be a nightmarish... more

I love me some zombie humor. "According to the Zombie Survival Guide, off shore structures (preferable oil rigs) are the safest place to ride out the Zombie Apocalypse. Zombie can float if they are decomposing but they can't swim or climb ladders. The only way you could be attacked at these structures would be to be swarmed by ten of tousands of zombies on the bottom of the ocean that eventually (chaotically) stack on top of each other to allow access. But that's just crazy because zombies aren't real yet."

From the page: "It looks as though the structures in this photograph are the Maunsell Forts which are situate way out in the Thames Estuary. They were of course WW2 defensive positions aimed at keeping London protected. If the stories about these places are to be believed, then once there, Zombies would be the least of your worries. There are many horrible tales about them and it has been said that whilst they were active and manned, a good number of the residents actually went bonkers because of the goings on out there. I have sailed around these structures on numerous occasions and can honestly say the very sight of them puts up the hairs on the back of your neck. And they make noises... horrible, horrible noises. No, I'd rather face an army of Zombies (real or not) than spend even the shortest of time in one of the Maunsell Forts. "

This is somewhat similar to my plan in case of a zombie apocalypse. However, the hideout I plan to build will be a lot nicer and more livable-in so I can chill there even when zombies aren't attacking. Also more accessible. For me, I mean. Definitely not for the zombies.
