One does not have to subscribe to the tenets of anarchism to appreciate what it brings to the table: Can anything legitimate government? Is government necessary for order? Does government primarily serve the weak or the strong? It also lends a one-word rebuttal to the misunderstanding of socialism as Big Government: "anarcho-socialism." If socialism doesn't require a government at all, it can't possibly be identical to the Orwellian nightmares that most Americans associate it with. In fact, the anarchists argue that it's actually capitalism that requires Big Brother intervention. To be sure, there's a lot of nuts in the anarchist movement. However, anti-authoritarian a movement may be, its members can be authoritarian about its priniciples. Many anarchists regret the calls of early anarchists for violent revolution. Even so, anarchism is a challenging philosophy that's worthy of critical attention.

hate-robot rated 3 months ago- this isnot enough and has never been, it's only a desperate bid to return to pre-industrial society to preserve "humanity" in the other way. one does not progress by going backwards

mkellim rated 5 months ago- Anybody who enjoyed this website need to read Noam Chomsky's What We Say Goes. There is also an excellent podcast called Freedomain Radio! It gives some thought provoking ideas on anarchism and how it could possibly work in the future, leans toward libertarian anarchism.
