I understand it's supposed to be a humorous piece, but this is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I've seen. Once the critters have gotten to the point where they are capable of using weapons they have ceased being a creature of nature and merely have become another type of person. Fighting humanity merely damages the cohesiveness of humans but that does not aid the environment. Environmentalism is not an issue in need of sides. It is not something you can fight for. The only real way to go forward on the path is to help frame a patchwork middle-ground where both sides (the natural world and the human world) are allowed to coexist with some sort of balance. Being pro-environment should not mean being anti-human and that's why I see these pictures as a highlight to a basic problem that underscores the more radical and fanatical members of the environmental movement. I wholeheartedly think finding a balance in the environment is something we should pursue, but let us not abandon our humanity and our sanity in its pursuit.

"This AP painting's theme is "Help Mother Nature To Fight Back", intended to help nature counterattack"

"Nature" *is* fighting back, but not with guns and tanks and bombs, nor with visible animals as recruits. No, no, children, the little things will get us.

Man, the drawings are awesome and the idea makes me smile but I can't take away the feeling that 'save nature' is the new dogma (eh I guess dogma with certain degrees of proof but I'm too lazy to find the right word). In any case, nature needs no saving. We're the ones needing saving, Earth doesn't care and species appear&disappear all the time in nature.
