I like The Colbert Report, but I'm also gratified to see Wikipedia users slamming the door on vandalism of the Elephant article following Colbert's ill-conceived attack on the encyclopedia during the July 31 episode. Other articles, including "Oregon," "Idaho," "Stephen Colbert," and "The Colbert Report" have also been temporarily frozen for the same reason.

'When was the last examination of the total population of elephants? The most recent reference in this article is to 2003. It is possible that the elephant population has increased, if not tripled, even if Stephen Colbert hadn't mentioned it on his show. I think the inclusion of a line akin to "It is not known whether or not the elephant population has increased or decreased in the last few months. Many claim that it has in fact tripled, while skeptics find that assertion unlikely."'
