- One of the most interesting writers of any children's books. She wrote her own life story, from essentially the perspective of herself at the age of the events taking place, right into adulthood. As a result of the fact that she didn't talk down to the kids that would obviously read the books, adults and children can enjoy them and find them interesting. A real chronicle of early American life that spawned the semi-fictional television series. Read about her here.
