In a way I welcome the idea that Google will eventually have every inch of the whole wide world mapped down to a square inch... Why? Well imagine if someone had access to this sort of data for some kind of road racing game, and you could essentially race across the country (think "Cannonball Run") on REAL ROADS. Even cooler if you could take any route across the country to get where you wanted to go... It's actually been something I've wanted to see since I was a kid and had "The Great American Cross-Country Road Race" on my Commodore 128. Technology is finally catching up to a point where soon we'll be able to store all of this information on a single disc (bluray maybe?) and/or it could just access an online database like google streetview to get the scenery or something... I don't know. It'd be cool though.

nice closeup pics of the streetview camera. I still doubt that the they are just ordinary drivers for hire. Too much technology there

Interesting article on the Google Streetview phenomenon - coming to your area now! This does raise privacy concerns. Do you want the whole Internet to be able to see what car you have on your drive, or that your grass needs cutting?
