The House of Representatives voted 223-201 Thursday to require most U.S. troops to leave Iraq by April 1, 2008. Was this another one of those things that they vote on that makes democracy seem like ..... something else ...... Supposed to act on a vote or have I missed something ..... I never was that good at maths is 201 greater than 223 .... or only when it suits someone ..... The word 'Veto' is Latin, meaning "I forbid". Bush vetoed the above vote ..... ( That could be read as I forbid the above vote ) There are 140,000 troops in Iraq (on a peace keeping mission) ... Put the same amount of troops in any other European Country or a state in the USA for 5 years and control its civilians ...... ...... what is this .... is it called .... Democracy ? ___________________________________________________________________________ _____________________ I guess Zimbabwe uses a similar vote counting system too is that seen as Democracy too. (patience its coming ....... same thing good progress is being made ...?... but not to bringing the troops back) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives Guess the white house denied it ....... Not sure what all this amounts to ? Bush vetos it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veto - need a 2/3rds majority ? http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/07/11/bush.veto/index.html?iref=newssear ch Needs more time .... maybe another 5 years and another 3 Trillion Dollars will do it ....... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/09/world/middleeast/08cnd-petraeus.html?_r=1&hp &oref=slogin Have your say on what you think ..... many others are ...... no email address needed .... lets hear the true views. Maybe we can stop worse from happening ...... if one person gets his way this war that should never have started will never END ..... Now that is a WORRY !!! (The Army has not been there 5 years for the good of its health ... ...........and what is left of Al Queda after 5 years should not worry the USA) Unless it is trying to provoke something much bigger .... can anybody tell me what good it is doing now ? and how many more years ? and how many more lives ? Why do I relate this to World War 2 - because I do not want to see World War 3 This was the reality of World War 2 - learn from it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II Estimates for the total casualties of the war vary, but most suggest that some 60 million people died in the war, including about 20 million soldiers and 40 million civilians.[158][159][160] Many civilians died because of disease, starvation, massacres, genocide. The Soviet Union lost around 27 million people during the war, about half of all World War II casualties.[161] Of the total deaths in World War II, approximately 85% were on the Allied side (mostly Soviet and Chinese) and 15% on the Axis side. One estimate is that 12 million civilians died in Holocaust camps, 1.5 million by bombs, 7 million in Europe from other causes, and 7.5 million in China from other causes.[162] Figures on the amount of total casualties vary to a wide extent because the majority of deaths were not documented. From 9 to 11 million of these civilian casualties, including around six million Jews, were systematically killed in the Holocaust.[163] Likewise, Japanese military murdered from nearly 3,000,000 to over 10,000,000 civilians, mostly Chinese during the war. It takes nothing to talk - if you prefer fighting sign up and go into the thick of it, but if you are intelligent and can reason - learn to live with others work a way out of this. Its always easy to get into a fight - but not so easy to get out when things go wrong. (Not that they have yet - but time is not always a good factor in situations like this) http://www.newsflavor.com/Politics/World-Politics/This-is-the-Real-Cost -of-the-Iraq-War.104188
