This is pretty clear. The US budget for military spending in 2008 is $623 billion. The next 9 largest spenders COMBINED total $348 billion. (this includes, in order: China, Russia, France, UK, Japan, Germany, Italy, S. Korea, and India) I think this is a case where being on top isn't something to brag about.

At this point in time, I am not surprised that the USA in on the top of this list. Though, I am shocked to see that America is $558 billion away from the country holding second place (China, $65 billion).

I don't remember where I saw it, but if we took something like 50 to 100 billion out of that, we could fix a lot of the things wrong in this country.
