Limbricus discovered 2 months ago- Happy ending to a former rock quarry; Dutch Springs, scuba paradise. Although rock quarries can have a huge negative impact on the environment, not all have a sad ending. Here is a picture of Dutch Springs before, as an operating quarry: Dutch Springs, after, as a diver's haven: We use this site to: test and familiarize ourselves with new dive equipment, train and qualify new and seasoned divers, hone all sorts of diving skills or just to get our fins wet when we can't afford the Caribbean vacation. The visibility is unsurpassed for this neck of the woods (thanks to the zebra muscles). The submerged training platforms, lack of ocean currents, tides or varying conditions make this place ideal for new students. I don't have actual figures but I'm sure it's a healthy boost to the local economy as well. I imagine that the visiting diver's cash trickling down to the local hotels/motels, restaurants, dive and other local shops is a positive thing. Here is a link to it's history: http://dutchsprings.com/history.htm Some pictures of divers exploring the helicopter wreck:
