Visually simple and interesting theory on how to shave hours off the traditional sleep cycles to feel fully rested. Personally, if I take just one good 20 minute nap during the day, I can last several more hours without ill effects. Napping doesn't seem to have caught on much here in the United States. Too bad. It works.

Want to know why this is wrong? People don't go immediately into R.E.M. sleep once they actually fall asleep - It takes a while for this to happen. This is illustrated with the "normal" sleep pattern, but with the others, it makes it seem like you can get full R.E.M. sleep with all those naps as soon as you close your eyes. Not true. That is why if you take a nap, it is recommended not to nap more than 20-30 minutes, or else you start R.E.M. sleep, and if you wake up during R.E.M., you feel like complete ass upon waking.
