IE 6 is a pest. Stimpy77, you know absolutely nothing about web development, get off the Internet. Why should we support an 8 year old browser? Things have advanced in HTML / CSS, so why should we use a browser that doesn't even understand how to render transparent png24's properly?... more

while I agree that the whole brand of Useless Explorers to be entirely useless, especially IE6 this is not a professional way to force major corporation IT's to switch to a better version -- their lack of licensing, architecture or just plain "if the rest of OS works, don't fix anything", should be a good enough reason for everyone to still support IE6 BUT VERY FREAKING LIMITED with a note saying: You're running an 8-year old browser thus some of the features are limited. Want all the features? Get a better browser!BAAM! and that's it, no need to fully deny access.

How about NO? I don't use IE6 but so what? "Why should we use a browser that blah blah blah"? *We* aren't. What you should be questioning is your own passion to disallow people access to certain sections of the web due to reasons that are probably far beyond their control. Are you some sort of fascist? Really, hating a program is a bizarre concept. Understand hate and understand your own psychological problems. You all need help. "I am 14 and I still hate it" is hardly a debate-winning argument.

This could be done way better than just a javascript popup. And why would I want to drive traffic away from my site? :/

I agree with the sentiment, but I won't be installing this on my sites. Too many people are surfing from work on ie6 and they can't do anything about it. I have a little less sympathy for the people who use ie6 from home though.

I can't believe people are still doing this, yes lots of us have spent many an hour trying to get things to look and work the same in IE6 but it still has a massive user base and so should be supported.

Things have advanced in HTML / CSS, so why should we use a browser that doesn't even understand how to render transparent png24's properly? Google don't support IE6 anymore, are you going to call them thick skulled idiots as well? They know more than you do. Get a damn haircut you stupid hippy, go back to school. To the people who are against this, try being a web developer and having to stay back extra unpaid hours at work to fix IE6 bugs. Normally bugs are a result of sloppy coding, but not in IE6's case, you can code perfect html / css and it still won't work. On my own projects, I tell IE6 users to fuck off and if they're using IE6 at work, to get a better job. No work environment I've been in forces people to use IE6, there is no reason for it. It's not even about administrative privileges, a portable version of Firefox will work without an install from a flash drive.

BAD BAD BAD VERY, VERY BAD!! I was supporting multiple browsers when some of you were sucking from your mother's breasts. (As babies, I hope.) We learned way back then, in the days of IE3 and NS3 that you NEVER, EVER **E-V-E-R** whoosh people away from your site because they aren't using the better browser. MOST PEOPLE WHO USE IE6 HAVE NO CHOICE, it's imposed by I.T. GET IT THROUGH YOUR SKULLS. IE6 does suck and we should communicate it but not by kicking people off your site. EVER.
