Backup those HDDs while you still can, and make yourselves some recovery cds!!

Very nice way for novice users to determine if the sounds their hard drive makes are a fatal and unfixable condition. In addition to the sound files there ar links to very thorough explainations on the cause and prevention of failures.

I use solid state disks. Soon you will too.
