I love the dark screen, but I wish you could turn off the spell check. The red underscoring IS a distraction and it means it's UNLIKE a typewriter. The green on black is great for me though.

I do think notepad is the basic equivalent of this, but sometimes I think a change of environment does wonders for the creative process. So it's not a particularly novel idea, but it's a nice alternative when you're on word or notepad and you've become frustrated with the words you've written and you just need a new medium in which to write.

This is quality material and I just got JDarkRoom and DarkRoom to use for the same purpose, but as programs. It clears your mind to do just writing.
