A way to visualize the odds of winning the lottery
  • Rated by rssn on Sep 20 2007, 5:56pm

Everyone knows your chances of winning the lottery are zero to none. But the fact is SOMEONE does win, and simply the hope that you might win and the adrenaline rush of checking to see if you did win are worth the dollar. I personally don't care for it, but then again I enjoy calculus derivations, everyone has their own thing.

Why I don't buy lottery tickets.

"Assume that ONE M&M was painted silver and mixed into the M&M's that covered 3 adjacent football fields that had been completely covered with M&M's. Then assume that a lottery company allowed you to pay $1 to walk out into those 3 huge fields blindfolded to pick up only one M&M with a tweezer-the silver one. Would you do it, or would you rather keep your dollar?"
