You can't read this letter in one sitting, or just once, and understand. I will return again and again to read. I think every activist should take his opening to heart, where Dr King explains that he rarely pauses to answer criticism. It is important for every activist to be open to criticism, but being open does not entail reciprocal response. If someone writes you a 3 page letter about your work, you don't need to respond in kind, simply let them know that they have been heard and considered, if even that. Anyway, that's what I think. Great inspiration and wisdom in this piece.

Eloquent wisdom from a great American leader and hero about social justice and the determination to seek it.

I could sit here and try to pick out the parts that really make this letter powerful, but the truth is, every word of it is the truth. And alot of it still apply today.
