- "Paul was the homophobe, not me..." Exactly. I don't understand why Paul is so instrumental in New Testament theology when he clearly loses the Jewish context that gave Christianity its foundations. In fact, I know very few Christians who actually understand the philosophical/mythological underpinnings of their religion and lose sight of what God really was to Jesus. People hijack religion almost chiefly for political reasons, not religious. If Jesus existed in the way he is portrayed in the Bible, he would be ashamed of the people who are his "disciples"
