The wage gap ain't a myth, motherfuckers.

I should probably read this in its entirety, but I find it a little boring. I've held some management positions and everyone's pay scale/bonus amount was market-wide knowledge; at least where I worked, pay was dependent on the number of accounts you successfully managed and bonuses were based on profit margin.

I'm sorry, but if you're starting out with a company you have never worked for, you should really do your homework and see what the average is and what pay is comisserate on. I've never had a problem with wage gap in the twelve years I have been part of the work force. If your own timidity restricts you from getting what you deserve, then you need to work on that first and possibly reconsider the field you are in.

I still personally believe that the "good ol' boys" club exists, but if you are an educated female who is resourceful and understands that business is strictly business, you can eliminate the wage gap for yourself. What is that old cliche? "You deserve what you accept"; I think that is apt here although some may view that as insensitive. I just hate to think that women are continually the victims of circumstance in the big, bad "man's world."

Edit: This article is a piece of shit. It seems to provide more fuel for one to victimize herself with and reinforce the "us vs. them" mentality some views of feminism seem to revel in.

I really hate to extrapolate from my own experiences with other women in the work place and post sweeping generalizations. Who am I kidding? NO I DON'T! Anyway, I don't always think equality is what women demand; many that I've had to deal with (both female subordinates and supervisors) want an "ol' girl club" where their asses are kissed for nothing more than forming cliques and having a set of ovaries. Seems to be exactly what women who want true equity/equality in the work place are railing against.

$0.77 on the dollar, eh?
Historically speaking, we do have some catching up to do (for amount of time spent in the modern work place en masse) but it certainly doesn't help when our own gender gets in the way of progress.
