An overdue review: Brickgrrl's pages are somber, thoughtful, and calm, full of deep thought and artistic quality, like having an afternoon to yourself in a really good museum. Anyone who has ever wondered what happened to good taste in the post-MySpace era owes it to themselves to spend some t...

there are two posts i will steal from this page .... one, a gorgeous lady that has raised the bar for women everywhere ...[thx to alan belanich for the link to this su'er.] . . . . . . . . . . Her Highness Still Rules from the page With or without makeup, Latifah's face is at the center of her fortune. With her almond-shaped eyes and sweeping cheekbones, she could have been painted by Gauguin, though her beauty is recognizably her own, animated by a warmth, humor and innate elf-confidence most women would kill for. Her stardom, in movies and television, has come from her gifts at playing the underdog or the outsider, the thick girl in body only, whose heart and brain are her best defense against the villainously rich, skinny and cutthroat. You can't help rooting for her. Photo of Queen Latifah by Robert Maxwell for The New York Times let me say i am a bit pissed at the pointing out of the thick girl in body part --- she has a fabulous, beautiful body ~memachelle . . . . . . . . . and the next of my favorite 4-legger's in the whole world .. . . . . . . . . . The story of the Battle for Guam and the 25 Marine Dogs of Word War II a wag of the tail for the image to Grateful . . . . . . . . . . .

Wilderness Rivers There are rivers That I know, Born of ice And melting snow, White with rapids, Swift to roar, With no farms Along their shore, With no cattle Come to drink At a staid And welcoming brink, With no millwheel Ever turning In that cold, Relentless churning. Only deer And bear and mink At those shallows Come to drink; Only paddles Swift and light Flick that current In their flight. I have felt My heart beat high, Watching With exultant eye Those pure rivers Which have known No will, no purpose But their own. -Elizabeth Coatsworth

The blog oozes power, intelligence, sensitivity and a love of all things good. You will recall the gorge of capricious waters You will recall the gorge of capricious waters from which throbbing perfumes climbed, and a bird, from time to time, clothed with liquid slowness: winter plumage. You will recall the gifts of the earth: hot scents, clay of gold, scrub grasses, mad roots, bewitched thorns like swords. You will recall the branch you bore, branch of shadow and water of silence branch like a stone of spume. And that time was as never and always: we go there where nothing does not await us, and find all that is waiting there. --Pablo Neruda IV From: `Cien sonetos de amor'
