"MSPCA investigators are searching for whoever "cooked" a 6-week-old kitten in a microwave, nearly killing him.
"Edison" was brought to Angell Animal Medical Center in Jamaica Plain with life-threatening injuries consistent with being burned in a microwave, said MSPCA-Angell spokesman Brian Adams. His entire tail may have to be surgically removed, Adams said, and both of his ears may have to be amputated. Edison also suffered burns to his legs and blisters on his tongue, but it could be days before doctors know the full extent of his injuries.
Adams would not release details of the MSPCA's investigation into the incident, but its Law Enforcement Department is asking anyone with information to call 800-628-5808."

Just the latest fad, quite on the rise in the last year or so.There have been numerous incidents of this particular behavior. Recently, a new TV show used footage of doing this in their promos. There's also a You Tube video of same, viewed in excess of 14,400 times, as of today.
Just an aside...The MSPCA is one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare agencies in the country.
