Albertane discovered 7 months ago- From the page: "I'll put it this way. If I had the choice of being waterboarded by a third party or having my fingers smashed one at a time by a sledgehammer, I'd take the fingers, no question."

askjosh rated 3 weeks ago- From the page: "Seriously, I determined to give [Waterboarding] a try, see how bad it was: Settle the debate authoritatively. Torture, or not?".... hilarity does not ensue.

Tartessos rated 7 weeks ago- This page frightened the shit out of me. Be sure to read the comments. From the page: "To quantify it, look at it this way. Let's say the maximum human distress a person can voluntarily withstand is 10. Waterboarding was a 1,000. It's not pain. It's in a totally different league. It's something different. It's like somebody pulling your plug."

playermatt rated 4 months ago- Well, anyone that's ever had experience with drowning can tell you that it's horrific. Waterboarding is torture because the drowning doesn't ever end. You keep drowning for hours, if necessary, until your "interrogator" gets the desired information from you. I don't have a phobia of drowning (ironically, it's one of the few phobias I never developed, even though I had a rather disconcerting experience involving a near-drowning as a child), but it's still one of the worst ways I can imagine to die. Any death that involves a slow, panicking death makes my skin crawl.

monkeytree rated 5 months ago- I got waterboarded,by the rag method, where the rag is held firmly against both nose and mouth whlst the water is poured, which is apparently how it is done. unlike this man i couldn't breathe anything but water - no air- so much more like his description of the plastic wra method.

Narom rated 5 months ago- From the page: "It's not simulating drowning, it is drowning. It felt like dying. I can't put it any other way."

radapowda rated 5 months ago- From the page: "So, is it torture? I'll put it this way. If I had the choice of being waterboarded by a third party or having my fingers smashed one at a time by a sledgehammer, I'd take the fingers, no question. It's horrible, terrible, inhuman torture. I can hardly imagine worse. I'd prefer permanent damage and disability to experiencing it again. I'd give up anything, say anything, do anything."

what does waterboarding feel like?
this guy at The Straight Dope wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. So he tried waterboarding. Himself. Difficult but essential reading. Below, his conclusion .
From the page: "I'll put it this way. I'd give up anything, say anything, do anything. The Spanish Inquisition knew this. It was one of their favorite methods. It's torture. No question. Terrible terrible torture. To experience it and understand it and then do it to another human being is to leave the realm of sanity and humanity forever. No question in my mind."
Backgrounder video: 'Thanks for the Memory'. The torture tape fingering Bush as a war criminal bush tries to prevent people in detention from revealing experiences. .- images by peter klucik wiht thanks.

Kaa9 rated 7 months ago- If this is not a torture, then there is no such thing as torture in the world...
