what a great documentary. even though it is sort of obvious that this work was "approved" by the army before it sees the light, it is still powerful. it still shows so many things to the eyes that can see.

I wouldn't dare judge this kid according to what I see in the photos, I bet his life before and while in the army is more than what the camera could take or have taken. This is a good photo essay and that's what I'm going to judge.

M4nu, and pinkseafoam, said exactly what I was thinking. Ian doesn't seem to change behavior (and I know I'm just looking at his pictures) throughout his army experience. Nor does he lose that babyface, or realize that marrying someone he probably hardly knows or ever sees is a bad idea (like joining the Army). An infant, child, soldier indeed.

Best stumble in quite some time, touching and revealing. Think of what you might about war or military, about gyms or early marriages, but this is just touching.
