a little old. I think walmart dropped this from the stores but might still sell it on the interweb.

I really like the idea of low-end PCs for the masses. Not everyone needs gaming. The lower power consumption adds up as well.

My brother bought one of those Dell/Ubuntu machines for $400 dollars and it had just slightly better specs (1.6 GHz proc, 160 GB HD, 1 GB RAM) Looks like a good deal.

If this is successful, it might be an early warning of things to come ;) with a 1.5 Ghz VIA Chip on it. It is a Word Processing/Internet PC.

From the page: "Even at the low end, however, image is everything. The gPC is built using tiny components, but put inside a full-size case because research indicates that Wal-Mart shoppers are so unsophisticated they equate physical size with capability."

Its really cheap. Open source, affordable, ooh it's gonna take a cut on Microblows earnings! :)

A $200 desktop computer from Walmart with Ubuntu pre-installed? I want one...or two or... Heck, I may get one for everybody on my Christmas list!

From the page: "It's almost like a Google PC," Liu says, pointing to the desktop's rack of pre-configured links to all of Google's online applications. It is, he says, the mass-market Linux PC we've all been waiting for. "That's our dream. ... we go the final step to make it work out the box, to go the whole nine yards.""
