From the page: ""You can't find a bigger social/professional class of twits than school administrators." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/22/AR2008012203 660.html?wpisrc=newsletter AMEN! I think the most shameful reality in American education is that, by and large, education, and particularly, public education k-12 attracts the lowest common denominators intellectually and socially. Not to say of course that there are not many hundreds of thousands of excellent, caring instructors and administrators. It seems however, that the majority are flunkees who enjoy power games both with young people and families. It's NEVER acceptable to talk to young people like this. This is why it's so hard for so many talented people to work in education; the children are used to being treated as mindless, disobedient animals. Their behavior, many times, by the time a gifted instructor reaches them, is less than ideal because they have learned to be distrustful and disrespectful of the idiots that came before you. Why should we be surprised when a student oversteps boundaries when he or she has been taught by example to be disrespectful? Garbage in, garbage out. We ought to flush our entire social skeleton, starting with education, and start ALL OVER. And I hope this bitch gets a nice dose of shut the fuck up the next time she talks to ANYBODY like that.
