Pretty much sums up marriage and what's in it for the female participants. Great comments section, as usual. If you are feeling a little like you've lost your mind (or yourself), this is a mighty cheering read.

A most astonishly condescending, presumptuous piece arguing against marriage. Isn't it enough that the author chooses not to get married herself?

While i feel that marriage in general has always been a form of ownership, i think in our society roles have changed, or have a huge potential to change. More men than ever are stay at home dads. And truthfully, in ANY domestic partnership there is a power struggle. There are never equal partnerships in ANY type of relationship. There is always a giver and a taker, even if it is unintentional. American women are not as oppressed as women who get married off for dowry in 3rd world countries for instance. This article takes feminism to harsh, unrealistic extremes.

Why does the internet hate me so much? I haven't done anything bad recently. Stop sending me to blogs. Please.
