My personal favorites include: 1) Relentlessly remove barriers to account signups. 2) Remove distractions and simplify. 3) Expose every axis of your data for people to mash up. Offer an RSS feed for everything on your site. 4) Create goals and measurements to be able to gauge progress. 5) Use common standards or open source frameworks whenever possible. 6) Find a top notch hardware partner.
