Guns only provide an illusion of security. Welcome to the new millennium, your small arms are useless against our Schwarzenegger-pumped military and today's technology. Rest assured your nightvision, camo, and bunker will pose no match to our Unmanned Drones, Microwave Weapons, Nanotech Invisibility Suits, Biological Warfare, and a highly-organized command structure. It makes me laugh how the whole article is full of pride, feel-good idealism, and catch-phrases, yet lacking in facts and much-needed common sense. The misconception that guns will ward off any tyranny leads to complacency and excuse on the frontier of smarts. What good is your gun if you don't have the wit or words to uphold what you believe? More than likely, the perpetrator will slip right under your nose in the form of paper and legalese. Of course, buying a gun is a quick fix and requires little effort or maintenance: that's what this really comes down to. Stop living in the dark ages, people. Empower yourself with knowledge, rather than an outdated weapon. This has little to do with activism.

a very good topic for debate and further inquiry. This is one side you hear less and less about. As much as gun prevention may seem attractive there is after all a reason we carry guns. And unfortunately this reason has been forgotten by many.
One way to encourage us to remember why we carry guns is that we pledge to use guns primarily to defend ourselves from government. And we should pass a course on why it is important for us to retain this freedom and understand that killing is bad etc. etc. until we can rightfully own a weapon... a bit like a getting a drivers license and no one could be allowed to carry/buy a gun without such license.

From the page: ""If every Jewish and anti-nazi family in Germany had owned a Mauser rifle and twenty rounds of ammunition AND THE WILL TO USE IT (emphasis supplied, MV), Adolf Hitler would be a little-known footnote to the history of the Weimar Republic.""

Yes, kids, it's really that easy to overcome occupational forces - they all fall for the ole "got a light?" trick and the sergeant never fires back at you when he comes running.
